P7 Pupils Showcase Their Road Safety Knowledge at the Northern Ireland Primary School Road Safety Quiz Final

On Monday 9th March 2026, the spotlight was on Cookstown as it hosted the annual NI Primary School Road Safety Quiz Final. Sponsored by CRASH Services, Northern Ireland’s leading accident management company, this event marked the exciting conclusion of 11 heats. Now in its 31st year, the quiz continues to grow in size and impact, thanks to the determined support from volunteers at Road Safe NI, the event organiser.

P7 pupils representing schools throughout Northern Ireland came together to showcase their road safety skills and general awareness in a lively, interactive setting. Teams of four pupils represented each school in a challenging road safety quiz. In all 11 heats, the leading two teams progressed to the NI Final.

The quiz featured seven rounds of eight questions, combining road safety and general knowledge topics, including a dedicated round on road signs.

Davy Jackson, Chairperson of Road Safe NI, shared his enthusiasm for this year’s event: “We are thrilled with the continued success of the annual Primary School Road Safety Quiz. This year saw the largest entry to date, with 210 schools registered across 11 heats. The final brought together two teams from each heat, all competing to be crowned NI champions at the Glenavon Hotel.

Road Safe NI Charity extends its gratitude to all participating schools, teachers, and pupils for their dedication to road safety education. Special thanks also go to CRASH Services and Headline Sponsor of the final, all the sponsors of the 11 heats including Police and Community Partnerships (PCPS) Local Councils, Mayors and the Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership. Thanks also to PSNI Roads Policing, PSNI Neighbourhood Officers and the Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service, whose support helped make this annual event a resounding success”.

Paula Mahoney, Marketing Director at CRASH Services commented, “At CRASH, we remain dedicated to raising road safety awareness among all road users throughout Northern Ireland. We are proud to sponsor the Primary School Road Safety Quiz final, an initiative that supports early road safety education and will positively impact future generations. Educating children about road safety at a young age is essential in shaping their attitudes and behaviours toward safer practices on our roads. By instilling these values early, we can help to reduce accidents and injuries, ultimately creating safer communities for all.

We are delighted by the impressive participation in this year’s Primary School Road Safety Quiz and inspired by the number of schools involved in this vital initiative. Congratulations to the winners, and heartfelt thanks to all the students and teachers who took part in both the final and the heats of the 2025 Primary School Road Safety Quiz. Their commitment and enthusiasm highlight the critical importance of road safety education.”

This year’s record participation has been fantastic, and the enthusiasm from students and teachers has been truly inspiring. Well done to all who took part in this valuable programme, and thank you for helping champion road safety.
