On Saturday 19th August 2017, 63 participants walked to the top of Slieve Donard Mountain in aid of Donard Day for the Southern Area Hospice.

CRASH Services were the main sponsors of the event this year to help with the organisation and fundraising. Each participant received a Donard Day t-shirt, water, Mars bar and post walk refreshments meaning that 100% of the registration fee and sponsorship went directly to the Hospice.

Eadaoin McCann, Marketing and Operations Executive of CRASH Services commented, “We were delighted to be part of the Donard Day organisation team and to work closely with the Hospice. Entrants were able to register before the event via the CRASH Services website reducing the admin burden pre event. It was an honour to present an amazing amount of £5731.85 to the Hospice raised from registration and sponsorship monies. I would like to thank everyone who took part in what turned out to be a great event but tough to get to the top!”

Eadaoin added, “I also would like to thank Hugh McCann’s Bar and Restaurant, Newcastle who provided some well-deserved tea, coffee, soup and sandwiches for participants coming down off the mountain.”

James McCaffrey of the Hospice commented “It was great to have CRASH Services on board this year to help with sponsorship and organisation of Donard Day. It was a very successful day all round and we raised a very substantial amount of much needed funds”.

The Southern Area Hospice provides their service across the entire Southern Health Board area, including Lurgan, Newry & Mourne, Craigavon, Banbridge, Portadown, Armagh and Dungannon with an annual fundraising target of over £2.5 million.
